About Us
Brazos Floral Company was founded in 1926 by Madeline Casey Freer at 3411 W. Holcombe Blvd. A pioneering florist with a deep love for her craft, Madeline built a shop that served its community with care and beauty. When she passed away, she left the business to her nephews, including Joseph James Bourret. In 1980, Joseph became the sole owner, continuing the family legacy.
His son, Joey Bourret, grew up just next door. He attended St. Vincent de Paul, the school beside the shop, and was often excused from class to walk over and pick up floral arrangements for school events. After school, he would head straight to the shop to spend time with his father and uncles, who lived in the apartment above. Without realizing it, Joey was building the foundation of a lifelong connection to floristry.
Although Brazos Floral closed in 1995, the knowledge, passion, and values that defined it lived on. In his twenties, Joey naturally returned to what he knew best: flowers. He spent years working in flower shops across Houston, learning a variety of techniques, styles, and customer needs.
Today, Joey Bourret is proud to relaunch Brazos Floral with the same heart and intention it was built on nearly a century ago. Blending tradition with a fresh, modern vision, Brazos Floral is once again creating meaningful floral designs that speak from the heart.
